Judith Winsor Smith
Judith Winsor Smith (née McLauthlin) (1821 – 1921) was an American abolitionist and women's suffrage activist. She was involved in the suffrage movement until the Nineteenth Amendment was passed in 1920.
Judith was born in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Both of her parents were descendants of people who had arrived on the ''Mayflower''. In 1842 she married Silvanus Smith, and they had six children. She was an abolitionist and a founder and first president of the second women's club in Massachusetts, the Home Club of East Boston.
Her daughter Zilpha Drew Smith became a prominent social worker in Boston. Her grandfather was the physician and painter Rufus Hathaway.
